Because I'm a family therapist, some people assume I only work with couples and families. NOT TRUE. As I say to the students I teach at St. Louis University, "Family therapy is not about the number of people in the room, it represents an approach to therapy--one that attends to relationship." My approach attends to the interweaving of important relationships we are all a part of--whether it's your relationship with others, with ideas, or with your SELF. So, while my clients include couples and families, many of my clients are individuals who simply want to make a change in their lives.
Change isn't easy. If it were, people wouldn’t seek out therapists. And yet, change is always occurring! My job--as I see it--is to help you define the change you want in your life. My approach is collaborative—meaning I work WITH you—recognizing and drawing upon the strengths and expertise you bring to therapy. Together we get things moving, building momentum ignited by the smallest little step.
If you're new to therapy, the thought of seeking out a therapist can be nerve wracking. That first small step of calling someone: overwhelming! Should you decide to call, we'll talk, and, because "relationship" is so important--we'll discuss if we think we can work together. If it's a "fit," we can make an appointment to talk in person. If not, I'm happy to help you find someone more "fitting" for you.
The dreaded paperwork! Honestly, there isn't much. Attached is my "informed consent" that sums up what you and I would be agreeing to should we enter into a therapeutic relationship.
Right now, I am what is referred to as an "out-of-network" provider. This means that you'd need to talk to your insurance provider to find out what your benefits are for an "out of network" mental health provider. I am willing to fill out the necessary paperwork and provide the appropriate billing for you to submit to your insurance. My fees for therapy--initial session, $140. Subsequent sessions--$100. I also accept a limited number of clients based upon a "sliding scale"--for those who can't afford my full-fee. We'd need to discuss your particular financial situation. Call me and we can discuss options. Also, I am able to accept major credit cards as well.
